Prepare your Snow Gear Before Hitting the Slopes

For many of us, ski season and snowboarding season started off a bit delayed. If you haven’t done so already, it’s time to get the the ski & snowboard equipment ready for some fun in the snow.

Put a Little Prep in Your Step

You’ll be amazed at how far removing burrs, cleaning edges and using a little wax will go in giving you a better experience on the slopes.  Outside magazine has a great article on how to prep your gear for ski season.

Better Safe Than Sorry

Ensuring your bindings are clean is not just a good idea, it’s also important for your safety on the slopes.  Clean your skis and board with a wet washcloth and look for problems like peeling or cracks.  Major damage should be inspected by a ski shop. Shameless plug: a light coating of WD-40® Multi-Use Product on your ski bindings can help prevent them from rusting. As a bonus, it also helps make snow slide right off!

Provide the Power

Make sure your transceivers, walkie-talkies, or other snow sport electronics have new batteries in them…especially if you’re going full HAM this winter. Something so simple can literally be a lifesaver in case of harsh weather conditions or an emergency.

Don’t Delay

Try and purchase anything you need prior to the day you head up the mountain.  No one wants to sit in the car while you stand in line trying to find the most ergonomically advanced ski poles. Be ready beforehand so you can make the most of the day or trip.
