Calling all bike enthusiasts! From July 4th to the 13th WD-40® was attending the 7 day mountain bike BC Bike Race (BCBR) in British Columbia, Canada. Held along the beautiful terrain of the Canadian West Coast, the BC Bike Race has been happening for 12 years, and it’s the largest mountain biking stage race for the west.
As every year, attendees can expect routes with epic views, lush greenery, and of course their favorite pro-riders! The event kicked off in Cowichan Valley where the top 3 contenders were Felix Burke, Geoff Kabush and Kerry Werner. In women’s solo it was Katerina Nash taking the lead with Courtenay McFadden and Jena Greaser following behind.
The race carried on through out the next few days from Cumberland, Powell River, Earls Cove to Sechelt, Sechelt to Langdale and finally ending at Squamish. After a few rough falls and crashes, the finale was intense! Felix Burke and Geoff Kabush came close, but Burke beat Kabush at the finish line by about 2 seconds and came in at first place in the last race as well as the overall Solo Men race. Geoff Kabush came in second in the last race and in the overall Solo Men race as well.
In Solo Women Katerina Nash won all 7 stages and came in first place, with Courtenay McFadden coming in second place.
WD-40® was proud to be a part of the BC Bike Race by supporting the cyclists with our specialized WD-40® Bike® brand, which helped the race move smoothly. Each day we had set up bike stations where cyclists could tune up, lube up and clean up their bikes.
